Washington Dulles International Airport is located 25 miles (40 km) west of the central business district of Washington, D.C., in Dulles, Virginia. As of 2009, the only Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority service to Dulles is the “express” 5A Metrobus route. The 5A express bus makes two to three stops on its way from the airport to downtown Washington, depending on the time of day: stops include the Herndon–Monroe transfer station in Herndon and the Rosslyn Metro station in Arlington.
