Montreal is the second-largest primarily French-speaking city in the Western world. In 2006 Montreal was named a UNESCO City of Design. The architecture is characterized by the juxtaposition of the old and the new and a wide variety of architectural styles: many historical buildings in Old Montreal, and important example of 20th century architecture: Olympic Stadium, Montreal Biosphere, Habitat 67, the Metro with a profusion of public artwork… Montreal’s Underground City (la Ville Souterraine) is the set of interconnected complexes in and around Downtown Montreal, the largest underground complex in the world. Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport or Montréal-Trudeau, formerly known as Montréal-Dorval International Airport, is located in the city of Dorval, on the Island of Montreal, 20 km (12 mi) from Montreal’s downtown.
