Djerba is the largest island off North Africa. Djerba is a popular tourist destination, particularly for French, German, Italian and Czech tourists. It is one of the few remaining places in Tunisia where a Berber language is still spoken. The airport is in the far north east of the island about 8 km or 5 miles west of Houmt Souk, the largest city.
